phpMyAdmin

Ok I have found out through another post/poll I made that the answers to my issues is to run my own phpMyAdmin from my webspace... So How is it done... ?

From what I gathered so far is you can download the file pack from http://phpmyadmin.net or http://sourceforge.net and just unpak and upload to your webspace, ahhh but atlass my friend that is just what the docs say but I seem to not be able to make it that easy...

I have downloaded phpMyAdmin version 2.11.0 from http://phpmyadmin and followed the steps and getting error #2003 unable to connect to server. Reading some threads that I was pointed out to pretty much all said the same thing that MySQL is not running, hum that wasnt in the docs I read.. LOL..
So now we have phpMyAdmin loaded but what is up this MySQL thing, is it included in the package downloaded, how do you start it up and is that something that can be ran on webspace too...?????

I have just thought of another question and I feel stupid asking this but I want to be clear on all this info.. When "WEBSPACE" is mentioned is that space on your LOCALHOST or can it also be remote as in a shared hosting service like EasyCGI or others.. I just said them cause I have been with them for over 4 years now..

Im off to read some more post, thread, docs and readme's I can find and will post more info as I get it and if you have info or experience with phpMyAdmin then please feel free to post along..

You'll need to have already MySQL installed on your system. It should be installed if you use a package like XAMP

With web space I meant to install it on your space at your web hotel. The tricky part of installing phpMyAdmin is creating the config.inc.php and moving it to the correct place. Most failures is there. Read the Quick install guide carefully.

I have XAMMP on both my Base PC and Laptop but I have been told by my Webhost that I CAN NOT use that on my webspace due to it is an executing program that uses CPU Usage, not sure how accurate that is cause on both PC's I have it on my CPU Usage is maybe 1% at anytime.. I have been at the MySQL site till 3 this morning and heading back after work today... Thanks for all the info given

Ok something just hit me and was wondering.. My Host does have MySQL and phpMyAdmin but their version of phpMyAdmin is so old that is what is causing the conflicts that started the venture of mine so.... I have all the files uploaded to my webhosting space for phpMyAdmin, can I have it connect to their MySQL or will it conflict with theirs.. I am posting something on the MySQL forums also to see.. You could post at the phpMyAdmin forum, because one get replies there mostly very fast.
