Hi wondered if someone could help me.
i am in the process of building a pc hardware review site.
Due to the nature of our site working alongside our fellow review sites is very important to the growth of our site. This means we share news (they post ours - not that we have any atm, and we post their latest review/news on our site).

I was wondering if there was a block/module out there witch can display 2 center blocks side by side?

As i said before sharing news between reviews sites is very important - and once our site gets underway with reviews we want to display our own news plus our affiliates news in a more user friendly block (no more scrolling down and going through pages of news)

This block would have to be able to display thumbnail images alongside text and a clickable url link.

at the moment news is displayed
News
News
News

We would like it to be displayed like this

Our News Affilaites news
News Their news
News Their news
News Their news

all in one block with a dividing line between the two

any ideas how this can be acheived?

I have tried the nsn quad 4 center block but this will only display modules already installed (calender, content etc) - this would be ok if there was a news module out there specially designed for affiliates news.

Any help would be great
thanks

Hi thanks for the reply
I have downloaded the nsn news module and it appears to be what im looking for.

Any ideas on the install of this module - it seems a little too complicated and a very lengthy process for a php noob?

The install notes are not very clear on exactly what im supposed to do. for example:

Quote:
Remove the following files from your PHP-Nuke site before uploading
the files found in this package:
admin/case/case.stories.php (7.1-7.4)
case.topics.php (7.1-7.4)
admin/links/links.addstory.php (7.1-7.4)
links.submissions.php (7.1-7.Cool
links.topics.php (7.1-7.4)
admin/modules/stories.php (7.1-7.4)
topics.php (7.1-7.4)
modules/News/*.* (7.1-7.Cool
Story_Archives/*.* (7.1-7.Cool
Submit_News/*.* (7.1-7.Cool
Topics/*.* (7.1-7.Cool

we are running nuke 7.9 - exactly what files do i remove from my ftp?

another:

Quote:
Now you are ready to upload the package. Upload all files in the html directory
to your test sites root directory (the directory with mainfile.php) keeping the
packages directory structure intact as above. If you are using PHP-Nuke 7.1 thru
7.4 you will also need to upload the files from the html_71-74 directory to your
sites root directory.

i do not have a test site directory - just html?

Here i have another problem when you open up the nsn download file you are presented with the following:

Edits for core files folder (in there contains admin, blocks, modules folders and 3 text documents - backend, admin and mainfile. In each of the 3 folders there are also sub-folders each containing normal text files)

what do i do with these files? as it does not mention anything about these files in the install text.

if anyone can help that would be great
darren

You need to open these files and follow the instructions given in each one.

Hi
thanks for your help with which files to delete.

ive got the module set up and all is going well - apart from one small problem:

when i put a text link and want it to open that link in a new browser window the module seems to cancel this out.
by clicking on the text link it takes people off my site.

heres the nsn configuration of allowed html tags:
Code:
b=>1
i=>1
a=>2
em=>1
br=>1
strong=>1
blockquote=>1
tt=>1
li=>1
ol=>1
ul=>1
p=>1
hr=>1
align=>2
img=>2

any ideas on what i would have to insert in here to get the link to open in a new browser?
i have used the following and it still doesnt seem to recognise the code:
Code:
target=>1
target=>2
target_blank=>1

thanks

Has anyone gotten NSN News to work with Nuke 8.0?

If so what am I up against?

If not is there a way to display Journal Content Only in a Block?
