Hi Community!

I´m using PHPNuke 7.6 patched since 2 years now. After this long period I´m thinking about a relaunch of my site. So I took a look at phpnuke.org and noticed that 7.9 is still the latest "official" release. It was released in september last year.

Has the development stoped? Are there plans of an upcoming 8.0? Is there a schedule?

Thanks for your help!

As far as I know, phpnuke 8.0 has a good roadmap such as point integratives, karma, groups, and some others.

Unfortunately, there is no good news yet.
Except for your own security issue, 7.6 will be a good toy bed to play. Also, 8.0 will differ from 7.6 in many aspects.

You are wise to stay with 7.6 no matter what new thing comes with 8.0. There are so many things needing fixed in the original nuke files that nothing can really be trusted in any future releases.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from versions 7.7 and higher.

My guess is that Burzi is taking a long (very long) holiday...

Nothing known here about a new release soon..

I have lots of clients running 7.8 and even 7.9 with no issues. I continuosly have to do restores for people who are using 7.6 even with security features installed. There websites where getting hacked with 7.6 and have not since they have been using 7.8 and above.

I myself have run 7.9 for awhile now with no issues but was running 7.6 with all the security and it got hacked.

Nearly all the security issues the past year have not really been PHP Nuke related, but instead, related to phpBB.

As far as to whether any PHP Nuke version higher than 7.6 is respected, look no further than RavenNuke or the fact that the Patch Team will no longer support the latest versions.

Webmasters can do as they want, but I would think those mentioned above have a little knowledge.....

I would have to disagree saying that 7.7 + versions are secure. They are not and infact most people I know who ran 7.8 - 7.9 were hacked over and over again with me being one of those people.

However after downgrading to ravennuke 7.6 and updating my sentinel I have had no more hacks on my sites. Not saying the attacks are not happening because they are and my sentinel ban logs show it.

Not to mention that everytime a newer version in released all the old bugs seem to re appear leaving us open to hackers.
