I have a small problem with my my Nuke site. The main part of it is the Web Links section that's gotten quite big. My problem is that I do get a lot of spam links, from bots or real persons i don't know.
What I would like to know is if there's a code or mod to be installed to be able to controll this:
1. to have an image verification (if it's a bot doing this, then I might solve this).
2. the possibility to ban some email addresses to be used when submitting links.
Thank you in advance for all the help and tips you can provide.
I think I have Sentinel (or at least it was). I don't have registered users only because it's a directory only and I don't want to ask anyone to register.
I think the main problem comes also from having that box that allows the users to format the text (TinyHTML or don't know how it's called). If I could disable that so that they cannot see the buttons it would be better
The "problem" isn't buttons that auto format text, the "problem" is that you allow anonymous users unrestricted access to your site.
Nuke is a popular program, as a result, there are many scripts which seek out nuke sites that allow anonymous access. You aren't being spammed by "real people" so to speak, but rather by bots that have unrestricted access to your site. Hiding the buttons won't change anything because this is being don't by scripts, rather than users actually clicking buttons.
This is sort of like leaving your front door open all day then complaining about all the flies in your house. I understand this isn't the answer you wanted, but the most effective (and the only one I and currently aware of) method for solving this problem is simply closing the door.
