These news he's posting need to stop. He has totally ruined several nuke sites. This used to be the premier Nuke website. Now the news are nothing but a nukeevangilst spam fest. There's not much content to his news.
Here's and example of a module he promoted a week ago. The mreview module is bug riddled and should not be used in a live environment. the author has not been heard from for months, Yet on the 18th of august he spams a post saying "MReveiw-module with more sustainable development: new release ahead", whatever that translates too. This module is far from still under development. He is doing nothing but promoting bad code and he's bringing your site down with it.
Sadsalmon last post was made on Tue May 16, 2006 6:39 am yet visit there active forums for development updates yada yada......
He should have his own site, nukeevenagilst.com and post his rubble there.
I hate seeing my favorite site go down the hill. Id love to help out if needed. Before it goes to hell in a hand basket at least sell it to someone who can help. I'll give $1000 just for the domain tonight.
Don't take this in the wrong way but if I see nukeevangilst's news I get sick and it makes me hate nuke.
I'm sure other's feel the same way.

Hear, hear! Advertising != News.
Hey, fellow Louisvillian, what part of town you live in?
NukeEvangelist has just posted an article on this site which refers to the Approve_Membership module and has a link to my site. I am the author of that module. I didnt ask him to post the article. He is not advertising on my behalf and I resent it when people suggest that I might be using NukeEvangelist to advertise either my Module or my site.
NukeCops owners have the right to post what they want as News and if they didnt feel that NukeEvangelist was making a valuable contribution to the Nuke Community by submitting the articles he does, then I am sure they would delete them without posting them.
I admit that his grammar and spelling can be a bit off. But his mother language is obviously not English. It must take some time and effort by nukevangelist and I believe his efforts are to be applauded. I certainly do not pay him to submit articles about my site and would be exceptionally surprised if anyone else does either. So his efforts are for free!!!!
We must remember that there are new nuke users every day and although I and many other old hands probably know most of the sites he posts about by heart, New Nuke users do not. To them it really is News!!!!

hi, all,
first i would like to thank NukeEvangelist
its people like NukeEvangelist who help keep the nuke community alive.
php-nuke has had few issues since 7.7 + was released and many people are eager for the new release.
getting to the point without people like NukeEvangelist we would not know about these addons.
and also drives alot of traffic to the site becuse people posting there news.
so if they google for an addon, like approve membership it will bring you to nukecops or ravens or even bobs site.
and the link to get this file.
nuke maybe quite at the moment, and i dont post much myself becuase i too busy with nuke 8 and phpbb3 port for nuke.
and most of your news is approved by me or VinDsl and i find the content that is posted is good, otherwise i would not post.
as we do recive alot of junk posts, people adverting hosting, or just spamming to make money.
and what NukeEvangelist is doing is just letting people know of nuke addons.
or if server realted which is critical for example php 5 news item he posted .
without php nuke would not exist
hope that helps

arnoldkrg,
No one suggested that you put nukeevangilst up to spamming your module. I believe he wastes a couple hours a day scanning the net for news. He should have his own rss feed for christ sake and make a block out of it. You say that new nuke user's find it usefull. I find it misleading promoting modules that development has stopped on months ago by saying "new release coming soon, sustained development".
This isnt a personal attack against nukeevangilst. I just think he needs to be turned down a few notches.
It's just hard seeing a good sight go down the drain. Two years ago there was as many posts an hour as there is a day now. Half this site is fubared and the news aren't to new. Nothing new layout wise and all you can expect when you come here is more nukeevangilist spam. Don't say its not spam because it is.
When I started this thread there was 5 topics on the home page and they where all junk from german preacher of old news.
I understand I am just one user but between poor recent releases and seeing spam news everywhere, makes me what to coding for vb.

hello all, hello Arnoldkrg, hello Progaming, Hal Jordan, and Perfect-games, hello all nukers,
Note; i know i am a bit late for the party - but i was not aware of this discussion: and since i am heading for work - this is a quick answer; i have allmost no time at the moment - i will respond more extensively when having more time!
It is great to see this thread - well i have waited for this since a long time - now here we have the discussion. And i would love to continue this discussion. I am sure we can can clear up some things. And i am willing to explain the role of NukeEvangeilst. And if anybody have concearns about the role - plz post. I have no problems with critizism - and thelike.. I am NukeEvangelist - and i wish we have more gyus that do this work ....
One of the main reasons i do the NukeEvangelist-Job is to support the interaction and the exchange of ideas, news, and suggestions.
I am Nukers since years now - and i think that the Nuke-Community is somewhat of a "dicourse in its own universe"...We have a "universe of Nuke-discourse". WE all can benefit from good communications and idea exchange. From the very first hour being a nuker i was inspired i am continuing to be inspired by the great work - especially of the module-developers.
I for one am a very strong believe in the open source-philosophy. And therefore in think that here much can be said - only a few quick notes. Besides the lack of time - i have right now, some of the long term readers have an idea of my
believes, my hopes and my ideas..
BTW I work on my phD - in the field of Open Source software development - and i regard the os community as a "universe of discourse" where users help users - and sofware is made by the users and not only by the manufactorers ... Open source-communities and os-development is a new phenomenon: it is new and if we look at the occuring phenomens
we see surprising things:
(cf hippel [see below])
Quote:
User innovation networks can function entirely independently of manufacturers when
(1) at least some users have sufficient incentive to
innovate,
(2) at least some users have an incentive to voluntarily reveal their innovations, and
(3) diffusion of innovations by users is low cost and can compete with commercial production and distribution. end of cid (cf hippel [see below])
In os-develoment we have cycles of testing, feedback, and innovation - The perment testing and feedback facilitates ongoing negotiations around making modules, hacks and thelike and around organizing that work and module-creation. Well friends, we can call the organizational state of flux that emerges from these negotiations Permanently Beta. And therefore i am love to play the guy that posts everywehere - to support the interaction and the exchange of ideas and the process of permantent feedback... I suggest that we support the diffusion of innovation - and therefore i play the role of a reporter - and a "news-spammer"; That is absloutely no problem for me. If nobody dose it - i will do it - and i will never ever stop here. I am pretty sure that open source developement has to do with an open communication-model - a Nuke-universe of discourse.."
What else supports the develoment - well i think sites that are talking about PHPNuke. NukeCops and allot of others do that. And i am sure that we can benefit from sites like NukeCops.com and Warp-Speed.de and eg. PHPNukefiles.com.
BTW well it is very very interesting to see that the system over at extensions.joomla.com is up and running. The site Extensins.joomla.com supports the communiy with some essential tools that are needet in an well established open soucre community. We need some tools that support the exchange of ideas, suggestions, knowlege and code. I think that we have a very very strong community. The community itself provides the great support and exchange of ideas, code and knowledge.
On a sidenote: i am a bit concerned about the development at the core. Franzisco does not work at the top of OpenSource-ideas, and he is not opening the development to the masses. That causes some bottlenecks.
I know that the question has ben raised at least a hundred times - but i am sure that we have to think over again....What do you think - who runs a cvs - shouldn 't we do some thing in this direction!? BTW - i guess that raven (from ravenphpscripts does something for that - doesnt he!?)
Now i close here - i am heading for work: but i would love to continue this discussion. I am sure we can can clear up some things. I love to hear from you. Let us continue this party...
best regards
yours NukeEvangelist
and here some good readings about open source development and ... the reseach filed i am attached to http://opensource.mit.edu/
Within a culture of gift-giving and generalized social exchange, knowledge as the main resource of the community is multiplied by giving it away freely to others and thus, fosters contribution behavior. Friendship, peer reputation and external feed-back provided by a global user community represent highly motivating social rewards which, combined with individual gain of knowledge, constitute a self-sustaining system of exchange.
von Hippel, Eric 2002 - 06 Horizontal innovation networks- by and for users
Innovation development, production, distribution and consumption networks can be built up horizontally with actors consisting only of innovation users.
In this paper we explore the empirical evidence related to each of these matters and conclude that conditions favorable to user innovation networks are often present in the economy.

so what whats your opinion!? Try to complain or celebrate with the rest of the Nukers....
above all: Take it easy - nothing else is possible - (i am a publishing robot which reaches 100 000 nukers / day )
NE
--__--__--
take it easy
the global brain that consisst of 200 000 Nukers is getting stronger and stronger :: believe it or not
btw: brainsmashr if you are staff-member; i have some questions:
1. what about the comment-function - it does not work propperly
2. who is responsible for the site - and the soon to come subdomains.
why not installing a CVS
3. what bout a large list with modules - we have more than 1500 of them.....
- if you can look for the above mentioned things - or forward them to the (rest of the) site-staff : Thanks in advance for doing so! NE

Actually lot's of things are possible.
For instance, If I chose to check in multiple times a day, I could simply not approve your spam, thus it would never appear on the homepage.
Fortuantely for you, I have neither the time nor the inclination to do so....unfortunately for you, that's probably going to change in the near future.
In other words, please refrain from spamming this site
