Hey guys. So I decided I was going to be a big girl and attempt to upgrade my php nuke site since I was running an old version and had been hacked a few times. (Yes, I'm aware I need security, that's next on my list)
Ok, so how I got php-nuke running in the first place originally is a mystery to me. I do not know anything about programming and most of the stuff I'm reading on this site really confuses me. Anyway, I purchaed 7.9 and read the "how to upgrade" file. All it said was to replace the files and then run one of the upgrade.php files. So, I did this. I didn't know what version my old php was so I took a guess. It was the most recent copy last May.
After I uploaded everything I ran the upgrade file I got the standard phpnuke webpage that says, "Can not connect to the mysql server" Every page I try to go to on my site now says this.. My question is, what the heck did I do wrong? I followed the directions word for word.
I do have some addons. I also just uploaded over the old files. Should I delete all the files on my site and then upload the new copies? I don't care if I lose my mods.
Please use simple words. I don't know how to edit code. Every time I've tried, I've broken my site.
Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

You need to re-edit your config.php with your database settings
Thanks for getting back to me. Do I have to do this manually by editing the config.php file in a program? I don't remember doing this originally. I thought when you ran phpnuke for the first time it asked you this information.

No, it doesn't - did you use some kind of installer?
