Wierd spacing issue in blocks.

Hey, I just installed 7.7 from 7.4 and rather than migrate my old DB I wanted to just recreate the content from a fresh install.

Upon trying to create my custom navigation blocks, I ran into a slight formatting problem. On my original install, when I used the following code:

<big>·</big> <a href=http://www.mysite.com/index.php>News</a> 
<big>·</big> <a href=http://www.mysite.com/modules.php?name=Search>Search</a> 
<big>·</big> <a href=http://www.mysite.com/modules.php?name=Submit_News>Submit</a> 
<big>·</big> <a href=http://www.mysite.com/modules.php?name=Stories_Archive>Archives</a> 

It would display the text like this (Which makes it appear there's a half a line break's worth of space between each line):

But no matter what I do, no matter how I edit the code, everything from leaving exactly as a copy paste to trying to modify it to pick up those extra 'spaces', I can't get it to do it and it just looks like this:

Just to show you what it looks like if you add a true linebreak (Which is what I don't want):

Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

The WYSIWYG editor does not accept BIG tags

Okay, my current solution was to just code a custom php block and then call upon it from the block manager.

But I'd like to know if the <big> tag being not recognized was intended or if its something that's going to be fixed later. Or if this is something I can fix myself by editing a script.

The editor only supports certain tags, that's by design
