released date of PHPNuke 6.7?

Wasn’t it over a month ago that 6.6 and 6.7 released to club members? Any idea when or if they are going to offer it to the public? I was a club member for a number of months but I let it expire.

it will not be released to the public. interestingly enough, from the SUPPORT file that ships w/ PHPNuke (all versions, at least 6.5 and above):
Code:

- How to support PHP-Nuke project?

I made this software free, and released it under GPL, so this software
costs you exactly "nothing". All that I ask you is, if you use it "please"
leave a link from your pages to http://phpnuke.org saying at least "Powered by
PHP-Nuke so others can know that you're using PHP-Nuke. That's all I ask.

how unfortunate for the php nuke community, they should really remove “PHP-Nuke Official releases 30 days before the public release” if they are not going to offer it.

I cant see any major reasons for people to upgrade anyway, security fixes can already be downloaded for 6.5 and worked well.

The next release will be version 7 which will include all fixes and anything new FB decides to write into it.

without turning this into a flamewar, i think that the big beef over 6.6 and 6.7 was the fact that despite FB stating things like I posted above, he more or less forced you to pay for the upgrade, unless you were willing to either wait for 7.0, or spend time digging on the 'net for sites with the download for free. besides, how do we know he won't do 6.7.1, 6.7.2,...6.7.9, 6.8.0,6.8.1..., etc...just to lengthen the time until the next public release.

Basically its up to him if he does 6.7.1 etc but I doubt he will.

I totally agree with FB and think the Club is great, it pays for FBs bandwidth, time etc and keeps the majority of phpnuke free.

If you want updates all you need to do is check a few sites, namely this one, phpnuke.org and nukefixes.com

If you do want the security fixes already built in then $10 isnt really much money to keep the nuke community running.

Problem is that security fixes was collected by chatserv, and provided by many people which don´t even get credit. And FB get money for it..

Another thing is that FB don´t apply all thing covered in secfix 3, and most funny thing in Nuke 6.7 is, that nuke.sql have version written as 6.5 Wink

I think that he need to look at what he do sometimes Razz

I have no problem paying a “fee”. I was glad to join the club to get 6.5 I even joined for a number of months. I like to contribute to keep PHP nuke alive I just do not see the benefit in staying a club member permanently.

I would be glad to pay for the product "club" if.

He re-enabled the forum on phpnuke.org you are paying for something that you have to get support for elsewhere?

As far as off setting his bandwidth cost’s I have no problem with that and either do the advertisers that are spending thousands a month to sell Viagra from phpnuke.org (In addition, the only reason the advertising is successful is thanks to the user community, the only reason phpnuke.org has a Google page ranking of eight is that all the php nuke user’s link back to it. With out the user’s linking back there would be no Page rank in Google and therefore no “pr” to sell to advertisers.)

PHP-Nuke is a great product thanks to its community; I just do not want to see the community stumble.
