I've been charged with finishing up the installation of www.aboutshanghai.com, and it's not just rough, it's "default"... and sadly, I'm only as good as they're paying me to be, which is to say, not much good at all.

The changes I want to make to the front page are not so difficult:
- Change article headlines so that they are links,
- Increase headline size by 1-point,
- Remove spacing between headline and introductory text,
- Remove the "2854 bytes more" business.

Can anyone just tell me in to which file I need to look to understand how to make these changes? The site is using 3D fantasy, an included template, I just don't know where to look.

Thanks!

They are all controlled by your theme files - usually theme.php
The individual story parts may be in story_home.html

Ahhhh! Yeah, didn't look there. Had some trouble with my FTP so I couldn't just pull the whole site over and search through it. Near about enough to drive one simply mad. Thanks Evaders!

Okay, so I've listened to three Violent Femmes albums since I've been trying to work through this. I swear I really, really read around like mad trying to find the answers before I ask (because I KNOW they're here somewhere, and I always learn more along the way anyhow.) So here's the remaining questions from it.

- I found where the headlines ($title) appears, but I can't figure out what I need to type to make it a link to the appropriate article. Would it be like "<a href="$story"><b>$title</b></a><br>... What I'm asking is what do I put in place of where I just wrote "$story"?

- Despite 20 different tests in my css file, I was not able to increase the size of my headlines on the front page. I did decide to make my hover-links blue, which I like, but out of the list below, which one would I change to make my index headline on 3D-Fantasy come out a tad larger?
Quote:
FONT {FONT-FAMILY: Verdana,Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 11px}
TD {FONT-FAMILY: Verdana,Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 11px}

.option {BACKGROUND: none; COLOR: #000000; FONT-SIZE: 13px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Helvetica; TEXT-DECORATION: none}
.tiny {BACKGROUND: none; COLOR: #000000; FONT-SIZE: 10px; FONT-WEIGHT: normal; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Helvetica; TEXT-DECORATION: none}
.footmsg {BACKGROUND: none; COLOR: #000000; FONT-SIZE: 8px; FONT-WEIGHT: normal; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Helvetica; TEXT-DECORATION: none}
.footmsg_l {BACKGROUND: none; COLOR: #000000; FONT-SIZE: 8px; FONT-WEIGHT: normal; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Helvetica; TEXT-DECORATION: underline}
.box {FONT-FAMILY: Verdana,Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 11px; border: 1px solid #000000; background-color: #FFFFFF}

And that should square me away for a while... thanks!

Okay, this will take a minor to phpNuke file itself. We need to pass a variable called $story_link instead of $morelink

In modules/News/index.php

FIND
Code:

   themeindex($aid, $informant, $datetime, $title, $counter, $topic, $hometext, $notes, $morelink, $topicname, $topicimage, $topictext);

INLINE CHANGE
Code:

$morelink

TO

$story_link

In your story_home.html
You can now do
Code:

$morelink$title</a>

I believe that should work

----------------

For your title, you will need to set a custom class in the story_home.html and CSS file

So something would be like
Code:

$morelink<span class="header_title">$title</span</a>

and your CSS would include
Code:

.header_title { FONT-SIZE: 13px; }

or whatever font size you want it to be

None of this code is tested, I just wrote straight from memory. So hope it works

Huh, strange it isn't built in to it. Okay, cool, I'll give it a test and let you know how it comes out.
