i occasionally get an error saying....

Could not connect to smtp host : 10060 : A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

DEBUG MODE

Line : 112
File : smtp.php

after i post a reply to a thread

this includes the code....

if( !$socket = @fsockopen($board_config['smtp_host'], 25, $errno, $errstr, 20) )
{
message_die(GENERAL_ERROR, "Could not connect to smtp host : $errno : $errstr", "", __LINE__, __FILE__);

It just means it cannot connect to your SMTP server. There's really not too much you can do. Not having much experience with this, I would say avoid using SMTP if you can and use the default local mail()

"default local mail"?

Can you elaborate? The sites I run have been migrated from a Linux host where they ran perfectly, to this POS Winblows box that's giving me nothing but trouble:

Code:
"Could not connect to smtp host : 0 : The operation completed successfully.

DEBUG MODE

Line : 112
File : smtp.php"

Your PHP must be configured to use the local mail() function
