I recently considered an upgrade to 7.9 from 7.6 PHPNuke. Went through the normal process of creating a new directory, uploading all fresh files to start the base site, copied and installed the database and got everything up and running.
The first issue I ran into is one that concerns me because it never occured in any previous versions I've used and I am not sure if it is due to the new wysiwyg editors or something preventing use of what appears to be most normal HTML and Javascript code in news posts, message posts and the like.
Throughout the site but expecially in messages and news posts I use alot of tables, javascript and other HTML code to include content. Upon installing the new version special Java and HTML code in the footer no longer worked. I attempted to post the code directly using phpmyadmin and although I could plainly see it in the corresponding databse entry it would not allow itself to be shown or run visible in any part of the website.
So the question is has something changed drastically that is blanking out code in these areas and is there something which can be doen about it (since these features are quite needed) or am I stuck with running the older 7.6 version? Any workarounds or any idea what's blocking this code from being used?
I've also seen discussion on security issues with the wysiwyg editors and wondering if it's even worth the trouble of upgrading any farther than 7.6 which seems to run just fine for me. If there are no real benefits and all these headaches then it's best to know

JavaScript is filtered for security reasons, both in code and by the editor.
Other HTML is filtered by the code usually, check the allowed HTML in your config.php - finally, the simple WYSIWYG editor also does not support all HTML tags. So you may have to get the Advanced editor for that (means you will have to get the TinyMCE files from 7.
