There is a mod that you can use made for phpnuke/phpbb.
Its called 'category Hierarchy'. It worked very well.. Portmoded had once, but i'll look for it and upload it to my site.

That's an old verions of mod-cat hierarchy ported by portedmods.com. As long as I know, the original author, Pijtrink, rejected to port his mod to commerical phpnukes. But for personal porting, he says ok as long as I know. Please check his site and ask again. In my site, I ported his the most recent version of mod cat hierarchy (the old version has some serieous bugs and the recent version includes much more improvements). But, if you are satisfied with portedmods.com's old ported version, then it'll be fine I believe.

I don't use it any more. I got tired re-modifing files after upgrades..
If you don't mind getting ahold of me, I would really appreciate this upgrade. Feel free to contact me on MSNM anytime as their's some other things I would like to mention real quick as well.
In advance, thanks for the time you spent on this, I know it wasn't brief.
Sincerely -

Hi, WD-40.
The current version of phpnuke NukeKorea Premia has my tweaked version of Cat-Hier MOD by Pjitrinks 2.0.6. Currently, the new mod_CH-2.0.10 undergoes in porting process. Those two mods are totally different. When you access my dev. site (I PMed to you already), you will see that and porting logs. In my opinion, that porting is too much too much unaccountably hard job but there is no tweaked and ported version of Pjktrinsk MOD. So, first of all, check it out how to work and how totally different it is from traditional phpbb2 & BB2nuke.
the new ported version of Cat-Hier MOD looks like the combination of phpBB2 + IPB + vBulletin. When I completed I will post it. But.... porting my version of it will take at least non-stop 4 hours (up to adjusting your theme-pack structures).
I was looking at the new version of this mod (v2.1.1) starting my approach on it and was hoping something, even if older was previously done.
With the older one found at ported mods, worked amazingly enough with latest PHP-Nuke 7.6 w/ 2.9 Patch Series. I was surprises as even it linked through admin without failing with olde session.php.
In comparison looking at older to newer one I can see how much simplier of a process this is or was. I'm not looking forward or wanting to mess around with the newer one besides the having the hopes of a better admin gui panel and what other options/addons was included.
I even started thinking it may be easier to just rebuild Nuke ontop as it first was so many years ago trying to out-weigh which would be easier and less time consuming.
Even this older one isn't bad as it just needs to be cleaned up. I'll wait for you to reply back before I go any further w/ my developments as I noticed these precodded files are just too old to be trusted for my likings. Plus I'm just picky...

Sorry for my late reply.
mod-CH 2.0.0 and 2.0.6 are totally different. I have ported 2.0.0/.4/.6 so far. However, 2.0.0 is enough to cooperate with BB2Nuke 2.0.13 with limited controls. 2.1.1 of mod-CH is totally different. It has too much control. I cannot describe how it is fully-fledged. Instead, let me use my own term: mod-CH 2.1.1 is a combination of IPB, vBulletin, & phpBB2. That's all.
I left my additional comments on the post which you did in my dev. site. Check them out.

I would really like to add the category hierarchy mod to phpnuke 7.7 running phpbb 2.0.15. Would your portmoding work? If so... would you be willing to share it with me?

For stand-alone phpBB2 and CH-forum, I would like you to use CH-forum MOD for phpbb2 stand-alone by Perrie. That's one of award-winning mods. However, to install it, it will take 2 hours. Pirrie releases a pre-wired version of CH-forum 2.1.+ version for phpbb2 2.0.18 very recently as well.
I tried installing the 2.0 version from portedmods (saved it months ago, there site is down now?) but it didn't work, just blank pages after the header.
