AND IM THE GOD ADMIN!!

No More Sentinel For Me.

Well thankfully it was set up a little better than that, the pop-ups or PC-Killer option doesn't start off enabled, the admin sets that up thereself. What exactly were you doing to be banned? If you learn how to use it correctly you will not find better security out there, no matter how much some people dislike it.

Yeah, and some people prefer hand-guns to window bars for home protection. Problem is, shooting someone causes more trouble FOR YOU, than simply preventing access to your home or server.

Most guns even come with a safty switch so I can "turn it on and off"....does that make it any safer or guarentee an accident won't happen?

The point is that you can choose bars or hand-guns, Sentinel or other software, for self-defense. Most work very well, but one is designed to make you a criminal, if used properly, and some are not.

Hi I just stumbled onto this thread. I am being hacked relentlessly I am trying to upgrade my site from 7.2 to 7.4 or 7.3 whatever is available now.

Should or could you give me some advice on installing all of these Nuke security programs? Any chance that there is a Nuke 7.3+ with the security programs built in? If not I will try to put one up at my site, someone needs to have this available for newbies like myself.

Thanks if you can give me some advice regarding security and upgrading if possible. Very Happy

I use Admin Secure and Protector on my phpNuke7.4 site. Those links will give you a plethora of information on each.

Not to mention there is no substitute for regular site back-ups.

Thanks.. Is the 7.4 version released yet? I backup about 4-6 times a day until I can get the site upgraded and install the protection.

Of course. I'm just a mod on Nukecops...not associated with phpNuke in anyway.....meaning I do not have special access to software that you don't.

Just do a google search and you should find many sites offering 7.4 for download.

Desert_Fox if you are still not protected it's only because you have decided not to be, you have been told previously of what you can do to protect your site, in here you were given two other options, pick one, pick two or as many as you wish even the one that "makes you a criminal" hahaha.

Well I do prefer hand-guns to window bars considering one is a LITTLE more effective. Same with Sentinel, now to the analogy of the safety. Of course being able to turn a safety ON or OFF does make it safer. No it wont guarentee an accident wont happen because they always do and nothing will ever prevent this.

For your third point of saying "one is designed to make you a criminal...", well if someone is breaking into your house unwantingly, threatening you and your family, does shooting them, to protect you and your family make you a criminal?? I'm thinking this may go along the lines of Self-defence, but what do I know. Smile

Your stupidity continues. There never has been, nor is there now, anything illegal, unlawful, or whatever. An independent attorney was hired (yes, a real live attorney that practices Internet law) to determine if these accusations that little minds like yours come up with have any merit. Take time to read his professional, legal opinion at Raven's site. Then, let's see if you have the professionalism to apologize. Having a personal opinion is, of course, your right. But quit claiming that it's a legal issue because it is not. On top of that, v2.x doesn't even have that feature anymore. It is an optional download not even offered at the official sites. That's funny, I've never heard of a gunman killing someone, even by accident, WITHOUT a gun.

And if you do decide to use the retribution option (note again for those that can't read: "not offered at the official sites") so what? It is your choice. Some of us have been hacked in the past and just cannot tolerate the kiddie crap.
Seriously folks, get off this Sentinel vs the world kick. All the security scripts have features that are nice. I have switched ALL my sites to Sentinel but that does not mean that Protector et al aren't good scripts...just look at nobleclem's hackerassasin's distro, it's great! I'd use it if my sites weren't so heavily modded already. This constant antagonism in the nukecops forums is the reason the quality of posts is degenerating. Thank you inky for the good post.

Before I lock this topic, let me state once again, I don't care what type of protection you choose, just don't come crying WHEN you shoot yourself in the foot with said program because you've been warned multiple times.

In my opinion, It's not any worse or any better than any other combination of the scripts out there, Sentinel just contained malicious code, apparently in the past, and I 100% disagree with that "practice" regardless of including an on/off switch.
