I run an online clan for a FPS and my site uses PHPnuke 6.5; I'm also using ClanNuke and I'm interested in merging the two together a bit more closely.

For those not in the know, one of the features of ClanNuke is a roster page. A roster page is displayed and you can click on a member's name to see their personal bio page. Additionally, each member can login and edit/alter the information on his bio page.

This is all well and good, but the problem is that when I the admin create an 'account' for someone on ClanNuke, it has a separate username and password.

I'm interested in setting it up to where I can match a ClanNuke username to a PHPnuke username when I'm setting up the ClanNuke account. Thus the username and password will be the same for both, and people logged into the website via PHPnuke can alter their ClanNuke bio page without a separate login.

Can anyone explain what sorts of things will need to be done to make this possible? ClanNuke creates it's database tables into the same database as the PHPnuke tables, so getting the necessary information seems possible to me.

Thanks for any help

I'm going to be looking through the code today to see what I can do.

Hrm... Looking at the script, I think it is beyond my capabilities, because the script itself adds custom field names to the tables. So we would have to be changing parts of nuke_users etc to get it to work.

Sorry.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think it'd be possible to get it to work without doing so.

My theory on this is like so:

Add a new field to the ClanNuke roster (call it say "user_equiv"). That number will be set to match the user_id of the intended person.

Then edit the admin side of the roster page to pull the info from the PHPnuke member list. Then when creating the 'account', the admin selects the proper user to link the 'account' to. This would fill in the "user_equiv" field with the user_id pulled from that information.

Then, re-write the roster index page to do a are you logged in type check similar to the way user_info blocks work. Add in an check to see if the user matches the bio page currently being looked at. If not, or if not logged in, then the link isn't present.

Would this work?

It would work, but it would also need a large amount of new/changed code all over the place. I will have a stab at it, but I won't make any promises, it will probably have some problems.

lonelydime, the creator of the module, is actually adding this feature as I asked him about it a while ago. Theres also going to be other new features added but u'll have to wait for these. The module is in beta testing atm but not all the new features have been implemented. Wait for these they're coming soon!

Truth be told, I've heard the name vWar, but I was unaware as to what it was until now. But, I've downloaded it (thanks to you for that) and I'm going to be uploading it and checking it out later tonight. If it works out, I'll have to compare it to clannuke (this version and next) to see which is better.
