Question: Is there a script anywhere that I could run on our shared server to inspect/review problems with our database?

I have indexed the suggested tables herein this message - and it makes little if any difference. I know its the database, I just don't know where or what to do about it. (noob here)

We used to have generation times of 0.221 - now we're hitting 59.129 almost daily and it is really annoying my user base. Only difference between then and now; our hosts server crashed and lost our main database file - they replaced it from a daily backup. Since then - it has been aweful.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Note: I have also installed the mainfile hacks and it worked great. I have no problem reading instructions when they are plain and simple. But this database thing is gonna be the death of me, I swear... gesh.

You are not running any RSS feed- and if you are, it is cached? This could be a BIG source of the problem.

Go to unix shell (if you have access), and do a top, and see if anything is bumping up too much (iowait specially if it is approaching 100%).

Make sure all your tables are optimized. Go to phpmyadmin and in "structure" see if any tables need optimization. Optimize them.

If nothing works, pm me your url and I'lll take a look.

Nope... no RSS Feed here. Our tables are optimized daily and our generation times are now being sporatic for our users.

We are not permitted shell access on a shared server; standard CPanel access and PhpMyAdmin access is what we get.

If it would help any, I can PM you the dump from SHOW VARIABLES for our database.

umm ok I read everything.

now, I have big forums and a topic takes up to 6 sec to load.
my phpnuke 7.6 patch with all mainfile speed up is working very fast, about 0.19 sec a page.

only forum lag a bit. how can I index a filed? please explain as I have no clue on doing so.
