Nice but those are phpBB based.
Mine works for Nuke and is a bit faster.
Code:
<?php
// StatSig.php free code
require_once("config.php");
require_once("db/db.php");

$sql = "SELECT sitename, slogan FROM ".$prefix."_config";
list($sitename, $slogan) = $db->sql_fetchrow($db->sql_query($sql, true));

$sql = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ".$prefix."_users";
list($users) = $db->sql_fetchrow($db->sql_query($sql, true));
$users--;

$sql = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ".$prefix."_session WHERE guest = 0";
list($memonl) = $db->sql_fetchrow($db->sql_query($sql, true));

$sql = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ".$prefix."_session WHERE guest = 1";
list($anonl) = $db->sql_fetchrow($db->sql_query($sql, true));

$image = "signature.png";
$im = imagecreatefrompng($image);
$tc = ImageColorAllocate ($im, 255, 225, 119);

ImageString($im, 3, 105, 5, "Live statistics of $sitename", $tc);
ImageString($im, 2, 105, 20, "Total members : $users", $tc);
ImageString($im, 2, 105, 30, "", $tc);
ImageString($im, 2, 105, 40, "Current online: $memonl members and $anonl guests", $tc);
ImageString($im, 2, 105, 55, "$slogan", $tc);
header("Content-Type: image/png");
Imagepng($im,'',100);
ImageDestroy ($im);
?>

Update: mine changes textcolor every 30 seconds and here's how
Code:
if (date("s") < 30) $tc = ImageColorAllocate ($im, 255, 225, 119);
else $tc = ImageColorAllocate ($im, 148, 255, 57);

first i'd check to make sure you have the gd library installed...

Code:
<?php

phpinfo();

?>

if you don't then you obviously can't, but if you do, then u might wanna look up info on the version you have, and see if u need to change anything to get it to work...

kinda depends what version of php your running, cuase think php 4.3 and newer have gd included, you just have to build/compile it with gd enabled

(haven't done it myself so don't know how)

gd's site:

How do I get gd to work with PHP?
php 4.3.x is available, and it includes a version of gd as "standard equipment." php_gd2.dll is included in PHP installation for Windows, it's just not enabled by default. To turn it on, the user may simply uncomment the line "extension=php_gd2.dll" in php.ini and restart the PHP extension

That did it for me Cool . hehe
