I am running phpNuke version 7.8 with phpbb 2.0.15. I tried to upgrade to phpbb 2.0.22, unsuccessfully.

I have reinstalled phpNuke 7.8 and everything works fine again, with only one exception - when I go to the forums section, the template/theme does not pass to the BBS portion, the header doesn't show, and the footer section is gone, and the who's online is not showing data.

http://www.vitaaeterna.com

I have installed/reinstalled several phpnuke themes, always with the same result. The main site will use the theme, but not the phpbb portion.

I have tried to install phpbb themes and do not get the desired results either.

I am not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

This is because php nuke uses a ported version of phpbb . You can not use plain ol' phpbb skins (the stand alone version), you need to find some that have been ported for use with php-nuke . Try here http://www.nukeskins.com/

I went to http://www.nukeskins.com/, downloaded and installed the theme Britannia.

Same problem exists. Everything works fine except for the Header, Footer and Who's online of the Forums module.

What else can I try?

Go into your admin section for your and it should tell you what version you have installed ? Also, when you ran the updates for your forums, did you run them sequentially ?

I dont' know where to find the version in the admin section. However, I completely reinstalled phpnuke 7.8 from scratch, and pointed it to my sql database. There have been no further updates since the reinstallation.

Standard phpnuke 7.8 has 2.0.15 nukebb forums.

To check the forum version go to admin.php ==> forums admin.

It will tell you there.

Did you drop all the tables from your database and do everything anew? The reason I am asking is yesterday I looked at your site and noticed that it has the same number of votes on your poll as it does today ? So when you say , " reinstalled " , do you mean you simply just uploaded the files again?

I did not drop the tables, but I did delete all of the files, unzip the package and reupload the files, pointing them to the database that I have always used.

I just want to get back to where I was before I goofed it up trying to upgrade the bbs.

As far as the poll goes, my site is a private site with a handfull of members (not thousands) and has relatively low traffic. I'm not sure what value comparing yesterday's poll count to today's poll count would have. You should still be able to see what I"m talking about by going to the forums and even looking at the one forum that is available to the public to see that my header, footer and who's online is not behaving. Theme boxes do not transfer to the bbs either.

I'm just a little lost as to why these sections would be missing.

Yes, well, sorta... it said the tables already existed (although I know for certain that the tables had not been updated prior to this attempt) and exited. Then nothing worked. The site completely died.

What I actually did at that point was reinstall everything (fresh from the zip) to a new directory and pointed it to the old database. When I got that working, I deleted the original location and moved the fresh files to the original location.

Probably not the best recovery effort, but... it does at least work as far as pushing and pulling info from the database, it's just not pretty from the BBS viewpoint.

I do have a full backup (data and structure) of my BBS database, and a "data only" backup as well. I have considered doing a fresh install to a new directory and a new database (leaving the old site in place for now), and import the data. I've run into issues before when moving sites that way where the data doesn't want to populate the database in a friendly way... that's the headache I'm trying to avoid, considering that my problem is primarily esthetic...

There must be an upgrade that you performed that is causing this.

Did you run the upgrades sequentially? or did you just put the 2.0.22 files up and run just that upgrade?

Correct method is to upload 2.0.16, run upgrade, upload 2.0.17, run upgrade etc until you hit 2.0.22.

There should be a way of undoing what you have done but it is important for you to let us know exactly what way you perfomed the bbtonuke upgrades.

Since it's hard to see what's been done. I 'll tell ya what I would do . I woudl make a backup of everything I got now database's,files, etc.. and just drop everything and do it anew . Then , I would dump the old users back and all the forums post as well as your news and such . Again, thats just what I would do . Confused

Thats good in theory but if you put back the table that is causing it you'll end up back at square one again.

Personally I would try to reverse the upgrade.

You can , but it would be a very tedious process as you would need write the queries to reverse it . It seems the easy way around this would be to add your users back , then the news articles , then start checking your site for errors then proceeding from there. Keep in mind that the only update he did was related to the forums , unless more was done and it's just not being mentioned.
