My idea is this:
Some coding genius writes PHP "plugins" for the Nuke installer, and you download a plugin depending on which forum system you want. This would involve ONLY CHANGES TO NUKE. Make it work around the forums, not vice versa. Have the option to select a plugin on initial install, and if none is present, use the integrated phpBB.
I suggest that these forums be supported:
-(external) phpBB
-vBulletin
-IPB

There's already work on allowing an seperate phpBB to use the phpNuke database. The other ones require validation from their authors, mainly because their code is not allowed to be distributed in such manner as phpBB.
