Hi, read the inside of the file, all you need to know is there to run it and understand it. Use WinZIP to extract it. |

Update your copy of Winzip or try Winrar. Both are freeware......registration only removes the "Please register this software" splash screen. Otherwise both are 100% functional without registration.
Meaning there's no point in you keeping outdated software on your HD |

Winzip won't open downloaded .tar.gz files that aren't saved first. When one clicks the link to download a file, two options exist: Save/Open. Always click save, and then open it. Clicking Open modifies the .tar to something like .tar[1] which is not recognized by Winzip. |

Actually winzip support tar.gz format. You'll have to save downloaded tgz to a temp directory and then open it with winzip. About why not using .zip format, because not all people using windoz. |

.tar.gz can be opened with WinZip/WinRar and/or WinAce (just to mention some). Download the file first - then open it.
If you need a true freeware and Open Source software get 7Zip. It can handle 7z, ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, GZIP, BZIP2, TAR, CPIO, RPM and DEB.

Their goals are similar, to make your site more secure. Both of them has different benefits and disadvantages. If you're doubt, you can consider to use both of them, also nuke patches from Chatserv and other security tools such as Protector System and Sentinel. But beware by installing them all them you potentially degrade your site's performances.
Some people mentioning about installing too many protection systems may opening new potential security risks. In our cases (using phpnuke), this is not entirely true. |

I may be one of the few developers and testers that can run the programs on high volume sites. I ran protector on computercops pulling 7.5 million hits monthly. Its performance loss was quite noticeable.
I wrote Fortress against this high volume activity, so its proven to work fast. Its slim and offers the basics in security. It will not offer any database connectivity nor unnecessary addons. |

Just ensure you save it in the download option. Then open it via the newest winzip exe. Works everytime. |
