I currently have a nuke 7 site up. It's not developed. Just up. I want to switch over to cvs. I did a cvs checkout into a betaNC directory a couple days ago and found that things like table names for forums were apparently different from what I have in the version 7 install. Is the cvs not yet on version 7?

*EDIT: ok nevermind the version part. I ran analyze on it and it says version 7. There's still a forum table that I apparently don' have in my stock version 7 install (not done from cvs) **end EDIT*

Do most people using the cvs update directly onto their working site? Or do they have a "test site" and then copy files over once they know it's ok?

I asked some questions about using cvs in This Site - NukeCops forum, but maybe that wasn't the right place to ask those questions. I honestly didn't even SEE this forum until a couple days ago.

*EDIT This is a tough crowd. Should I just hold off until the Protector System is in the cvs? My site is empty so it's no big deal to start over, but I'm kind of antsy to start adding content. **end EDIT*

bump

lotta questions regarding CVS here and in This Site - Nuke Cops. Even suggested creating a CVS forum topic. Not to be critical or anything, but to make this useful to more people there needs to be a bit more info readily available.

I would recommend uploading the cvs to a test folder first before actually changing your site. That way if the test site gets destroyed you are ok. Nothing worse then a live production site and your visitors are getting some ugly errors.
