You need to have a SMTP server installed on the machine that's running nuke for it to work. Postcast is a good one for windows. I don't know any linux distros off hand.

I had a problem too (here)... I was trying to register an address, actually a couple that ended in @13stripes.com and the submit page for registration just hung... for a few minutes (yes minutes) resulting in me never recieving any mail. I finally registered with a hotmail account and the process worked lightning fast...

I wrote it off as a thing that happens... But, I have noticed that some sites don't like my domain @13stripes.com for email... Do you think it has something to do with the numbers?

Interesting topic, I'll have to look at the code someday to see if it doesn't like numbers that start off the domain. You want me to switch your email to 13stripes on the backend?

you have to register an MX record for emails to work for the 13stripes.com domain.

Most domain hosts do this for you automatically, but I'd check anyway.

(Info: An MX record tells email servers where to send emails to when they're addressed to a domain. It points to a domain name, not an IP, so an MX record for 13stripes.com is registered to 13stripes.com)

They already have MX configured properly:

that link u posted only listed name servers for me, and it said both of those were dead.

I found another site which had an MX resolver on there and yeah, the MX is registered properly, except that they've got a priority 0 on their server, not 10 like I'd normally expect.

That's odd... when I go there, I just wait about 10 seconds and scroll down the page for the MX server info.

I just tried that link again and it worked fine this time, gave me a full list of information, and didn't complain about NS servers being down

we tell people to install an SMTP server cause that's the most common problem that people have with this - they don't have one.

Does your SMTP server require authorisation to send messages? I'd check that first, cause it sounds like it's just not liking relaying messages from your site. Also, if the site's running on the same machine as the smtp server, check php.ini and make sure that the smpt server is set to localhost.

Yes we have it set to localhost???
It beat me. I cant see how it work in phpbb and not nuke. I had to leave out the password for phpbb but used all my pop server settings that I use in my email. I use blueyonder.???

Your help is welcome as it has got me?

Thanks

the SMTP settings might not be the same as the POP3 settings.

I dunno. I'll have a think about it for a while, cause I can't think of any reason why one'd work but not the other. Have you tried configuring phpBB to use the php in-built smtp server to see if that'll send emails? if it won't then it's a general email config problem.
