I can agree on most of your points. However, the post is just that. A reminder. Since nukeocps began, Support has been it's main Goal.

I have no problem with the Fruits of success, but I do have a problem with basically what I call "lazy" users. This does not apply to everyone. Dont' get me wrong. I know a lot of users do in fact post appropriately and in a timely fashion etc. However, there are the handful of "Bad apples" that ruin it for the whole bunch.

So saying that, I can say that this post is more directed at users who blatantly disregard any information and go straight to the Forums and post "HELP ME". And it is also directed at any other users that come here with posting that type of topic in mind.

One thing I don't agree with is you're statements about providing a product. The support in these forums is not a product. It is a group of users voluntaring their free time to help others. And in my opinion if the new users seeking help cannot take the time to help themselves first, then I as a supporter have no time for them. "Help us help you" has always been my philosophy.
Also, a product should yield some sort of revenue. No one here gets paid anything to help others. It is purely voluntary.

Show me some cash and I'll show you a little more leniance. Otherwise, all must abide by the rules of the Forums. This is not some sort of new thing here at nukecops. Anyone who has been a long user of this site KNOWS how to post in a Forum and the etiquette to use and the informaiton THEY need to post to get help. It's COMMON SENSE!

Where's the "REAL WORLD"? Has it lost it's Common sense and ability to read an understand. We have two ears and one mouth. we should be listening twice as much as we speak.

The real world? Get a life? Amazing.

Those of us who were always a part of the real world know that you can not take anything at face value. You have to be living a sheltered life to expect goods and services in the public market to meet a common level of refinement, doh! We're not selling burgers or cola to a consumer base that expects the status quo to remain unchanged. What's next? Old Nuke vs. New Nuke?

This CMS is simply a loose collection of scripts that do various things. The integration between the scripts is becoming tighter. No one promised anyone anything. If you need a polished product with guaranteed service level agreements -go and buy one! If you don't have the ability and drive to develop the requisite skills to manage this app' in this development environment -use something else!

Why on earth would this community close its forums as a management strategy? We're here to help people ask the right questions so that they can get the right answers. The price of success? What makes you think your self-righteous perception of success is the template used for this community's product (a product which is more than the CMS and includes the increasing awareness and consumption of community based projects)?

Get a life? People with lives are sharing a facet of their lives here. As a programmer, when you're given 80% of a product and need to tweak the remaining 20%, that's a lot of energy saved. If I tweak 1% and post my code fix, I'm helping out MY COMMUNITY. This (PHPNuke) isn't what most of us are 'famous' for in our personal or professional lives. This CMS is just one thing we check out every now and then. We do have lives -what made you think that trying to optimise a process in play indicates a lack of a life? In this community, in this time slice, this issue has been escalated. What's the problem?

As you mature, you'll come to realise that hard work is a trivial component of success and that you can work hard all your life and still not be successful. Any more fortune cookie wisdom?
