Adding extra fields and variables in News-Module - redesign of News module

Q: Hi all, I want to add some more fields in News and Submit_News module, i tried some thing but failed to creat. Actually my plan is to add some more fields in Submit News, these should be 3 text and 1 char_variable field. I had made 4 variables in nuke_stories tabe of my Database.
But the operation of Submit_News module is very complex for me. Can any one help me to insert these 4 fields in these two modules?!
