PRESS RELEASE
SOURCEGUARDIAN EMPOWERS DEVELOPERS WITH VERSION 5

The new version of SourceGuardian adds a host of features to help software developers protect and distribute their online applications.

Today SourceGuardian announced a major new release of their award winning cross-platform PHP security software. SourceGuardian Version 5.0 has a whole host of new features, but the predominant theme of this upgrade is to make it easier for PHP developers to create and distribute their commercial work. A completely new licensing engine has been added to SourceGuardian, giving developers the power to create specifically licensed versions of their applications including trial versions and also more flexibility in locking their software to specific machines.

The new SourceGuardian 5.0 licensing engine, which is bundled as part of the package, protects the intellectual property within PHP scripts without the need to re-encode scripts for each customer. The licensing engine can create trial versions of applications, can be locked to a specific IP, Mac address or domain name and provides an automatic method of generating license keys that can be used seamlessly with existing software distribution systems.

In addition to the licensing system, the SourceGuardian 5.0 PHP encoder receives a number of other major updates including custom error handling, compression levels and the ability for the developer to specify if files can be ran alongside unprotected files. One new feature welcomed by customers is the addition of timeserver support. Said Andy Harris of GenerateOne; ‘The new timeserver function lets us hook our software into any existing global timeserver to ensure that our licenses are not being abused. We no longer need to rely on internal clocks in machines that can be tampered with.’

Adrian Teasdale, CEO, believes that this new version will be very well received by both their existing and new customers; ‘There has been pent up demand for these new features from our customers. The beta testers were very enthusiastic and we have been receiving a large number of emails from customers wanting to know when the new version is being released.’

Priced at $250, the SourceGuardian 5.0 PHP Encoder is available to download now. Also available from the site is a fully-featured trial version.

Note to editors:

SourceGuardian is an encryption product for the PHP programming language, originally developed in-house by Inovica Ltd, to protect their own work. It has become a vital tool for many professional web developers, programmers and agencies since the programming language (PHP) does not have built-in security. SourceGuardian effectively locks and protects the source code to prevent intellectual property theft and license avoidance.

SourceGuardian is one of the most comprehensive and user-friendly PHP protection solutions on the market, with thousands of users worldwide. It offers unlimited technical support, free minor updates, full native bytecode encoding and runs under Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

In the last twelve months SourceGuardian has won a major UK export award and has been exported to more than fifty countries."
