Nuke Cops: How's our web site speed?
Nuke CopsSo now that we've been on the new server for a couple weeks and I've been fine tuning settings here and there, flipping switches on and off, what do you think? How's are speed on the new system? Fast? Faster?

The site seems lightning fast now. I haven't had a single problem.

yeah, it did seem to load faster, even when I forced a complete refresh (Control+F5). What did you tweak to improve th load time?

I don't know what others are experiencing but for me your pages take at least a minute and usually longer to fully display. The main content area becomes visible after at least 40 seconds have elapsed. I haven't figured out yet if I'm always getting a bad connection or the server is sending data that slow. I've tried at different times of the day, and it always the same.

Compare your page load times to the "page generation" time in the footer. Is that figure high? Have you run traceroutes to nukecops.com? How about ping -t nukecops.com for about 40 packets? What's the average?

It is lightning fast - especially from my T1. No wait for pages to load.. they appear before I take my finger off the mouse.

Two thumbs up! The graphics take a little while to fully display on my entry-level residential DSL, but that's not your fault. It blazes on my DS3 connection at work.

I take off a day, and the site is loading much, much faster now. Whatever you did thanks.

This is the page generation I got hitting this article right now: Page Generation: 0.979 Seconds - 113 pages served in past 5 minutes

If it slows back down to where it was before, I'll collect the info you asked for. It's nice to know it wasn't just me. Maybe it was just us dial up lackees having the problem.

Usually around 1 second for me - cable modem. I wish everything loaded this fast. Very good job.

Before I saw this article I was thinking about making contact with you about the massive amount of graphics that are loaded.

And, as you know, graphics are the slowest of the lot to serve and to display at the client site.

It is all 'lovely' and so on, but most of it does not serve any purpose.

Take for instance the graphics in the 'Site Visitors' block. Too many to count and even if they have a small footprint, they still have to be loaded and displayed.

Also scrolling text, time consuming.
There are many other ways to increase the display of pages on a client site.

But then again, what do I know, I am not a professional.

I'm not sure what you did this morning, but the site loaded so fast it shattered my monitor !

Much Better!

Just a question about this.

A few time when connecting to this site,, the pages are coming up, but when I click on a certain item (can't tell which one) and before all the images or what are loaded, the dreaded message "message_die()" turns up.

Is this possible?
