Nuke 4 child: the new project
Help RequestsLordShinyK writes "This is a message that Jean-Claude Giraud from PHP-Nuke Europe asked me to translate it for the international community.

<=====
Because I am a father with a familly, because I am a responsible citizen, I would like to develop a certification system within the PHP-Nuke community.

Let me explain: while surfing on the web and watchin several TV documentary, as well as being part of the French Gendarmerie, it seems obvious to me that we have to react to avoid the multiplication of people that give a bad picture of the internet.
I am talking here mainly about pedophilia, but also all the abuse from unrespectful people on some websites.

Consequently, I would like to create a team in parallel of PHP-Nuke Europe whose mission will be to denounce illegal actions but also to tell and spread the word about websites that have valuable information.
This project is very dear to me and I really hope that the PHP-Nuke community can have a true reaction. Please comment and post your ideas in this article to help me to elaborate a solid project. Everybody will be heard and if needed a topic will be open on our forum.

The more we are, the less work will have to be done, and the more efficient we will be.

Thank you for your attention,

Jean-Claude Giraud

I would like to hear more detail about how this would work, but this could be a very good idea. There's a lot of freaks out there who do crazy things on the web, who would love to get there hands on a robust cms like this to handle there crazy content.

Now while I don't disagree in theory that something needs to be done about sites which contain things like child pornography, because something does need to be done about things of that nature. However if we start putting Ratings and/or certifications on sites then we will start down the road to censorship which is something everyone people should be against. Who are we to decide what a certain individual can or should have on their web site? Yes things like child pronography are a crime and should be treated as such. But what if someone has something that 1 out of 10 people find objectionable on thier site and that one person is part of this so called certification process? Does that site get black listed? Does it get bad pub? See what im saying. best way to handle things if you find a site with illegal content (report it ro it's host) or content you don't like (don't go to that site anymore) If we start over regulating the web, then we will suck the creativity out of it. BTW I also am a father of 3 children who I love very much and I am very much against things that subject children to abuse. But a ratings or certification system for websites IS NOT THE ANSWER
