On the topic of PHP-Nuke Club |
|
If we were to obtain Francisco's blessing to host the PHP-Nuke club here at Nuke Cops as a mirror, would you our membership support that? We, the staff, are looking to see the general feeling on this issue from folks. Of course it would be setup the same way as seen on phpnuke.org. Not only would Nuke Cops be an official development team for the CMS, but we'd be an official Reg.Net affiliate with PHPNuke.org. Your constructive comments are welcome.
The notion here is to continue growing our services and try to become an all encompassing solution for your web development needs. Thus far we have delivered not only this support and development site, but also betanukecops, cvsnukecops, and snapsnukecops. There are other projects coming down the pike that other sources of finance would help to grow.
One such vision is to offer web hosting services by nuke cops. We'd of course offer the same security setup that we ourselves use. You folks have made us a success, and we want to continue to grow for everyone's benefit (ours and yours). Afterall, we're one big family. We aim to help you with your hobby and/or business. Would adding a club mirror be a step in the right direction to help us?

Whatever files are available for download in the phpnuke.org club would be available here at nc. In addition, we might also offer an affiliate purchase into the phpnuke club itself for those that wish to go the extra mile. |

Re: On the topic of PHP-Nuke Club (Score: 1) by foxyfemfem on Wednesday, July 23 @ 08:46:14 CEST (User Info | Send a Message) | Hello ZX,
Nukecops has my support on whatever direction they take concerning phpnuke software. A mirror site for phpnuke club sound great. Perhaps this would encourage members to join the club which in turns would benefit FB therefore, I don't see why he wouldn't give nukecops his blessing to mirror the club website.
To answer the question "Would adding a club mirror be a step in the right direction to help us?" In mho, I truly believe you should host a membership club for nukecops.com instead of phpnuke.org because this site offer something that phpnuke.org doesn't and thats 24-7 support. No matter what time of day or night I come to this website there is always someone available be it a staff member or a registered member here offering their assistance and/or support.
I would pay $10 a month for membership as a member of nukecops.com although, I have a problem with paying $10 a month as a member of phpnuke.org because I do not receive any support there. I will only become a member of the website that offer me support and nukecops.com believe it or not offer 24-7 support because someone is always available here (staff or registered member) to assist me and others. |

Same here as well.. I too bought into the club, got 6.7... Then PHPNuke.org's forums disappeared over night. One month went by, I let my membership go, and two days later 6.8 was out. $10 for 6 months is well worth it rather than $10 per month. $120.00 a year for updates?? naaa...

I think this could be your answer?

I thought it was rather poor that the support forums disappeared. I too paid for 6.5 and worked hard in the forums to get through all the difficult installs and bugs that were popping up like crazy but the support forums worked- the admins and users were all helping in the forums 24 hours a day. Why cant you make a yearly fee that is reasonable. I paid 25 for community to give back to you guys because the admins here really do a lot or work in the forums and for the project.
oh thanks

Re: On the topic of PHP-Nuke Club (Score: 1) by Azmeen on Thursday, July 24 @ 11:47:57 CEST (User Info | Send a Message) | I've registered just to feedback on this interesting thread. I'm no longer a PHP-Nuke user. Many assumed it's because of the club issue, but it never was. It's more because I don't think it's a fair way to contribute to PHP-Nuke.
If PHP-Nuke was maintained by people like NC however, I'd gladly subscribe for a year at least. Because you guys have proven your expertise and dedication on the project.
This might sound weird if not downright offensive considering your relationship with FB, but if the fork saga actually did take place, I'd switch in a blink of an eye as soon as a release is made (beta or full, I don't care... NC's code are definitely better than any given FB code).
But what you said about the family bit is true... in my case, I'm the estranged cousin, FB is the black sheep whom I had a beef with, and NC are the distant uncles who are strong but silent.
Although I'm already happy with my current CMS of choice, I would never say never to anything... even going back to the *-Nuke code, but not under the "guidance" of FB... that part I'm certain.
Also, I don't think this post is actually about "mirroring the club", but more towards gauging user's reaction for a similar idea. You could have just linked to the club registration page if it was purely an issue of helping the club. This paragraph is not an assumption nor am I implying anything, just merely stating my opinion. |

So it doesn't matter to us if PHP-Nuke is sold to another party or not, we'll simply continue on with the bundle ourselves. We believe in this. |

phpnuke.org has done alot to distance the community, which is why i now go out of my way to find free places to download phpnuke, as opposed to paying the Subscription fee... i choose to not encourage that lack of community 'interaction'
