bigsi writes "http://www.slightlychilled.com has been slightly re-vamped. Many of the modules have been custom-written, some based on others that are available. The theme is also completely custom made and is (hopefully) unique. There is integration between the calendar module and a custom yellow pages module which links events with venues. Your comments would be grately appreciated as much hard work has gone in to this site."

All I seem to get is stupid comments about the removal of the copyright notice, which is an age old subject that has been beaten to death in many forums. With so little constructuve comments from other developers, what is the point in trying to help them? |

I noticed that straight away. I even used the sites search engine and not a sausage about PHPNuke.

It took me ages to have my own site mentioned to day because of a copyright related issue that was not my fault. After hours of rangling it was eventually posted without predijuce (Basically FB gave me permission to do something he shoudln't have!)
Anyway. What I find frustrating is that after almost 11 hours I eventually get my mention in the news.....while looking back at a site that was published at the time mine should have been....slightlychilled....it becomes obvious that while it's a PHPNUKE site there is not ONE mention of PHPNuke. No copyright notice. No acknowledgement not a saugsage.
Do know what kind of a day I've had????
I'm now going off to murder my entire family.

Yours was not the same issue and you know it. I could divulge the issue, but I will not because it was handled PRIVATELY and correctly to EVERYONE'S satisfaction. I ask you to back off at this point as I thought the issue was closed.
The copyright issue is not a legal issue - it's a respect issue. However, I, nor the staff at NC, have neither the time nor the desire to police every link/site that comes out way. As long as the credits are in the scripts, that is all that is legally and technically required. Your issue would never have seen the light of day except it was so blatant and you know what I mean.
Now that sets the record straight. Please leave it be. |

I made this post in a bid to share some ideas about coding and how to use php nuke, but if all you are intersted in doing is complaining about the removal of a copyright notice, don't look at this site. I was expecting professionals to respond in a professional CONTRUCTIVE manner... I guess I was wrong. |

Is it because your guilty and don't want to be discovered or is it just that you have no knowledge whatsoever about PhPNuke? Enquiring minds want to know. Educate me, please. |

WHY, after that have been THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of posts, that you newbies have failed to read and partake in a debate upon, do you come crashing down on one of the best examples of Nuke over the stupid copyright issue?
I don't blame bigsi for withholding MANY modules, blocks and other NUKE tools to the public that he has created, because newbies go and lambast it over whether or not he needs to place big neon lights all over his website to sell Nuke for nothing. What have you gained by this post? NOTHING, but heres what you have lost: One of the most talented Nukers out there providing free modules, blocks etc. for you to use. And I will not get involved in this STUPID debate again. You guys go have fun with your sausages.

I have spent many hours helping out many nuke developers, from converting masses of data, to writing completely custom scripts for them. I have never once had anything bad to say about FB or Nuke in general. However, many people in the nuke community feel that they have a right to dictate what sites must do with their content. I run a PROFESSIONAL site and there is NO advertising anywhere on the site, and I intend to keep it that way. My users repsect the fact that there are no flashing banner adds, no annoying graphics, and no links to un-related sites on my website. I intend to keep my users happy. The copyright remains in-tact for anyone that wants to see it. All I do is just keep it hidden from general users. It would appear that many of these people that have complained do not know that much about HTML coding, let alone PHP nuke. My intention of this post was to offer help and advice to the masses in creating custom scripts, modules, blocks and any other help they might need. But if the focus is only on the copyright issue that I get the impression that many people are approaching this from completely the wrong angle. |
