PHP-Nuke Club goes annual |
|
Francisco writes "The PHP-Nuke is starting to consume LOT of bandwidth due to the recent additions. Due to this I decided to move the Club subscription from montly to annual basis with a reduced price of $100. But since there are people interested in the PHP-Nuke's latest version only, I also opened a new module here when anyone can get for the usual $10. The automated email with the download location should be faster than before, almost immediate access."

Re: PHP-Nuke Club goes annual (Score: 1) by kingpin03 on Thursday, June 10 @ 12:03:17 CEST (User Info | Send a Message) | I've always wondered why there is such a strong animosity between the developer of phpnuke and some of the users.
Nobody has explained to me yet... I'm just curious.
As for the club membership... I didn't consider taking it up before and would be even more reluctant to do so now, because 100 Dollars is a lot money for me and it's not worth it just for the sake of having new versions all the time. Especially when you consider that usually the new versions come with the odd bug that will be fixed within a few days. Add a little more to the wait and voila, the version is available to everyone and the fixes are too.
Plus, I'm running my site on the Nukecops bundle 6.5 and am not going to change that any time soon, unless someone can display a very much better version of phpnuke (or an offspin) which I highly doubt.
On that note, well done Nukecops for making such a strong and stable release. I enjoy it a lot! |

Come to think of it, I remember reading hate-posts against XS (I never know how to spell that name lol... the guy who approves the news submissions) and I didn't really see too much point in it.
I guess a lot of it is jealousy and childishness.
Personally I don't see a point in getting upset about it. As long as it's free in the usual way, that's okay. If it ever stops being available for free, I'll just stop upgrading and will use the version I have... simple. |

For everyone else it might be cheap at $15 a month hosting, but phpnuke.org and nukecops.com costs real $$$. |

It's HIS software! If he wants to make you don a tutu and cluck like a chicken, more power to him. Don't use the software if you don't like his evil plan to become rich off of your hard work, or the security vulnerabilities he puts in his script purposely to cause you to visit 22 forums for a fix. If you are unhappy with a product, make the strongest statement you can, and quit using his software.
I joined the club for a while, but I stopped as soon as I realized I won't be updating anymore for a while. At the rate that FB releases software, by the time I've reapplied the fixes and security measures, the new version is available.
I'll look into version updates when he's a full version above what I'm using(7.1).

From what I have read from the story (and being a casual club member), nothing has changed at all. It is just the wording, and how you now get access straight away.
The problem with the comment about bandwidth is ... If advertising cannot pay for the phpnuke.orgs bandwidth. WHAT HOPE IS THERE FOR THE REST OF US (well maybe most of us?????) |
