PHP-Nuke 7.0 public release soon |
|
Francisco Burzi writes "PHP-Nuke 7.0 will be released to the public in a few days. At the same time, or just a few days after, PHP-Nuke 7.1 will hit the road with some minor fixes that will open the way for the 7.2 that are under development now and will include a subscription system for your users, a highly requested feature.

Has there been an easu upgrade intergrated into the PHP-Nuke system something like the bNC install? |

Come on Franciso, I have been a member for EVERY release... I support the fact that you need money, I do too.... But is it really fare to release a new "version" every time you fix a bug ?
The latest "point" addon in the version 7.0 really does not justify a brand new version, does it ? If you add every upgrade and bug fix OFFERED by Nuke Cops we would be at the version 98.4 by now no ?

Seventys I would have to agree with you. I found a download of 7.0 and the only thing different was the points system which is not all that great. Now if it would have had a groups system maybe I would have been excited but he really has not done anything notable to receive payment for lately. Now nukecops has with their bugfixes and what not.
I would really donate to people more often but I am a poor college student so parting with money that should be used to feed me is not good.
ZX and you staff Great Work for the community. You obviously know that you are doing great work by the demand of visitors. But thanks for being their offering the services that most dont. |

Frank, ignore these idiots. They are freeloaders who probably will never achieve anything like you have.

I am gratefull for the original CMS that FB created, but since then it has seeemed that has done little to nothing.
So far in these past few releases all they have been is a minor fix and a very minor addon, why should we be happy about this?
Here are to packages that i have turned to instead of the original PHP-Nuke because they offer so much more and relate to the people by adding things the public wants for instance a quick install page.

I vow to never go back to the packages provided by PHP-Nuke because they dont offer the stuff that bNC and Ravenscripts does. |

After I realized what work I would have to do just to get my website modules to where I would like them to be I decided that instead of hacking someone elses code up and most likely not getting it right that it would be easier to just create my own. Now I dont expect it to be done for some time but I plan on coding everything from scratch. This include the CMS system (which is pretty much done), Forums, Group Management System, and more...
I personally like PHPbb but I think that porting everything in site just starts degrading PHP-Nuke as a whole. You then have so much discontnuity that unity becomes more difficult.
So although PHP-Nuke is a very nice system for those who cant or dont have time to create their own system... it tends to not get a lot of credit from those who can and would like to see more features and see it become better...
I do have to agree with many people about "what is the point of this release", becuase most of the time when you release a new major release it has major changes/additions to it. In the late of PHP-Nuke this has not been the route. The forums where added (which was already ok to begin with as far as a port goes) and most expected more integration of the two (which has not happened). Almost none of the abilities of PHPbb have been harnesed that would increase PHP-Nukes ratings... |

Silly (Score: 1) by PoC2 on Saturday, January 24 @ 18:57:53 CET (User Info | Send a Message) | This is just getting silly. No wonder there aren't print books for PHPNuke - no publisher would dare to at the rate it's going through versions.
I think a lot of people will be staying with v 6.5 until something significant comes out, and that means the slog-of-an-upgrade 6.5->6.6->6.7->6.8->6.9->7.0->7.1->7.2->? (may not be fully accurate, but you get the picture).
It would be nice if someone with the technical know how could work on a single upgrade script 6.5->current.
I think that would be very useful to have!

Re: Silly (Score: 1) by nobleclem on Sunday, January 25 @ 00:11:48 CET (User Info | Send a Message) http://hackerassassins.com | Its really not that hard to keep up with the upgrades. Since my release of about my 3 version of my Half-Life server query module I have begun an upgrade system that goes through each upgrade from your installed to the current release. This makes it easier to update. All I have to do is add the new upgrade code in a new function and add a new option in the install script. Then bang.. the script does the upgrade.
So all someone would have to do is take the time to start it... but that someone would need to be FB. |

Why give out a version 7.1 when you've got more ideas...those ideas should be in the 7.1 package...We don't want every 2 weeks a new version, just a stable one.
But as an users from version 5.1 I really appriciate the effort that burzi intents to build a nice CMS... |
