Hi all, I am new to phpNuke so I need some help.
I have been using phpBB2 for a while now, and it works great. I have a lot of members and their is a lot of info written on the forums.
So, now I have installed php Nuke 6.5. I realized that there is a forum included with nuke, but I don't need it. I would like to continue using the old phpBB forum. so now I have two SQL databases one for the forum and one for the phpNuke.
How do I connect these two? how can I use the new phpNuke, but without the members re-registering to my forum, how do I use the old forum with php Nuke?

Thanks!

being that the phpBB version that ships with nuke 6.5 is the current phpBB version that's available as a standalone forum, why don't you convert?

There's an importer somewhere

As for combining databases, you can't. You can set the 2 up to use the same databases under different prefixes, but that's about it. You then just set the user_prefix variable to use the other prefix. However, importing the current forum data is recommended.

These are Perl scripts and I/we do not support them but I know they work. You can get them from my site http://gaylenandmargie.com/public/downloads/phpBBforums2nukeforums_6.5.zip

what does this mean, in the readme file:

- Set the correct path to your perl binary modifying the first line of each script.

In a shell/telnet prompt type something like whereis perl the path returned by this command is what you must enter in the script's 1st line, it'll be something similar to usr/bin/perl

Ok , I have never used pearl before, so I don't have a cule on what you said Razz

Is there any easier way to do this? I mean I have two databases, one has the memebers and info about them (phpBB), and the other one is emtpy (phpNuke), I can delete phpNuke since I don't have anything important there, as long as I can create a phpNuke site with the allready registered members.... but how Sad

Well I found out that you cannot install phpNuke on the same database as the phpBB forum, since the table names are diferent. You could change them, but they the forum woun't work properly since some table structure are also diferent.
I really don't know what to do, I would like to try the Pearl script, but I don't have a clue on how it works.... Crying or Very sad

heres a tip
email your host and tell him about your situation
tell him about the script you want to run, cause he'll be the only one who will be able to run the script for you because you may not have telnet access since most hosts don't necessarily offer it.
