Sorry but the protector forum is closed.
I am just wondering how many of you would like to see the Protector System come back!
I have Never had any problems with this system. Out of all the systems it was the easiest to install. The support was fantastic and there also TO fans to TOP things off. So will there be an x-mas this year? |

Even though, protector adds-on was stopped, two other sites are still working on it to make it run under phpnuke 7.7+. Protector is light-weighted but very robust. You will find those two sites if you spend slight energy. In this year, X-mas is till near you. |

Protector just hasn't been updated in a while. I don't believe the original creator is working on it anymore. If someone picks it up again, then good
(The forum was just locked because it is easier to put things under Nuke Security. We don't actually support any of the security addons directly, so no need for their own forum. The posts there are left for reference.) |

Actually it is currently under revision by the original creator and Techgfx, I have just modified it to work in conjuction with Sentinel for Platinum 7.6.b.3 also. It is a good backup for Sentinel to plug some of the holes Sentinel allows through, mainly union attacks. |

And what holes are those? There was one just discovered and has already been patched and if your nuke site was up to date with Chatserv's patches it didn't work anyway. If you know of other holes then the professional thing to do would be to report them to me. Thanks. |

Yes the issue was reported at Ravens a few days ago
Yes an in depth discussion between coders was held
Yes it was found Sentinal was NOT at fault!!
This is a classic example how bad rumours start..
Someone reads a post or issue, doesnt follow the issue to its conclusion, and posts some place elseware without any reference to that issue.
It also has to be noted that the Union issue was sorted a few days ago...Its Old news. (well it DIDNT have to be sorted because if ppl followed reconmenditions then it WASNT a problem and never was!) |

I never said Sentinel was at fault, I said it missed the attack on sites that were not patched. Protector catches those particular attacks and bans them. I agree Sentinel is the best protection as long as everyone keeps the patches up to date, but as you all know not everyone does, so they need a backup to prevent this from happening. You know as well as I do that no matter what people add to their site that opens them to attack that they will always blame sentinel if they get hacked. So please do not take offense to someone making recommendations to add backup security. |

Well i kinda started all of this because i was thinking of installing a new version of phpnuke or maybe that platinum package 7.6.0 that includes sentinal and protector as i am very happy with protector. Im just wondering what the most secure package at the moment of phpnuke is.
BTW does any know a good addon so that i can add mirrors to my downloads. Like instead of adding the download again and again i can just add mirrors to it?
I was trying to get Enhanced Downloads V2.1 but the site seems to be down or the project is discontinued. If anyone has it and can email it to me i would appreciate it or post a link to it here. Thanks |

Well if you install phpNuke + the latest Patched files + latest Sentinel, you're pretty secured there. I can't say about Platinum, because that package hasn't been updated by its creator. Others have taken over, you should check and make sure that the latest Patched files are applied to Platinum |
