I'm new to the PHPNuke community so please bare with me a little. I want to test and use PHPNuke for a couple of clients that I think this CMS would work great for. I haven't ruled out DNN at this point but so far it looks like Nuke is the way I should go. These will be a bit stripped down from a site like this but at this point I'm no sure what all will be used, banners, some forums, etc. However, I am concerned with security of course but I am confused or should I say a bit over whelmed right now at all the patches and "distros" for Nuke. I'll be hosting from my own servers not a remote host. Right now I have 7.8 running behind my firewall and will not let it go public until I can have some assurance it won't get hacked by some kid down the block. I have D/L'ed 7.9 thinking it my have had some security updates but have read the opposite is more truthful. To me a newbie to Nuke (but not networks, programming, DB's) there seems to be a lot of conflicting information.
Can some one give me a starting point for which Nuke version, and all patches and utilities that would be a reasonably secure start? Is this possible? Should I go with Ravens 76_v2.02.00xxx? If so, does it need updates to make it current? What about 7.9 and patches 3.2, or is that even available? 7.8 with patches & utils? If so what patches & utils? I have more questions but this'll do for now. Maybe if this list is possible it could be a sticky?
Now an OT q.
How does Nuke do with PHP 5? My current setup on the test box is PHP 4.3.9, Zend 1.3, MySQL 4.1.12, apache 2.0.52,, a basic Red Hat ES install with updates to 4.3.
Thanks.
And thanks for all the work I see you all doing.
