Whenever I post new news, it goes to the bottom of the page. How do I make it so the new news goes to the top and the old news shifts down?

Dont use the Messages Module to post news . Use the Add Story link from your admin panel . That will make the stories appear how you would like..
The Messages Module is for placing static messages in your Home
