Does there exist an e-mail list for alerting webmasters of hack vulnerabilities? Someone should create an alert-only e-mail list that reports vulnerabilities and the fix for it, and links webmasters to a forum topic for the vulnerability. Webmasters could subscribe in digest mode to limit e-mail traffic.

Haven't seen one really. I'd start one myself on NC here when I can

http://secunia.com/product/2385/

You can have related alerts emailed to you.

Keep in mind, Secunia does not track 3rd party patches and such, so though many of these vulnerabilities are listed as unpatched, you can find the patches quite easily. I would like to see a chart that indicated what patches worked for what vulnerabilities listed (and where to find the appropriate patch), but for now I just post the latest alert here, and usually some kind soul like Evaders99 lets me know if I'm safe or not.

We could always make a sticky thread called vulnerabilties, people could reply to the thread and click "notify" when reply posted, then whenever there is a new security threat, someone could post about it on the thread.

Then again, might be just as easy to make a security e-mail list.

I'm thinking both a mailing list and official forum. It would have to be moderated in such a way so that script kiddies could not use it easily to hack, but phpNuke admins can find the relevant code to patch.
