Yep. You heard me right. My site at www.wolvenmoon.com will not let me log in to the administrative panel anymore. It was earlier today while I was trying to fix the submit news function, which would do the same thing.

Go to www.wolvenmoon.com/admin.php and just hit logon, or enter bogus info, you'll see what I mean. It does the exact same thing with a lot of other things, it's probably something stupid that my webhost did (They changed permissions on a bunch of files for 'security'.)

Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I need to just start over?

Something is screwy with your admin scripts. Here's part of the page source from the admin.php page:
Code:
 <td><form action=".php" method="post"><table border="0"><tr><td>Admin ID</td><td><input type="text" NAME="aid" SIZE="20" MAXLENGTH="25"></td></tr><tr><td>Password</td><td><input type="password" NAME="pwd" SIZE="20" MAXLENGTH="18"></td></tr><tr><td colspan='2'>Security Code: <img src='?gfx=gfx&random_num=81800' border='1' alt='Security Code' title='Security Code'></td></tr><tr><td colspan='2'>Type Security Code: <input type="text" NAME="gfx_check" SIZE="7" MAXLENGTH="6"></td></tr><tr><td><input type="hidden" NAME="random_num" value="81800"><input type="hidden" NAME="op" value="login"><input type="submit" VALUE="Login"></td></tr></table></form></td>
The form action= should say admin.php. You might want to check admin.php for any typos, or just replace it with a good backup.

I've screwed it up big, now it keeps repeatedly saying "Illegal file access" and I can't do ANYTHING.

Is there a clean PHPnuke 7.6 I can download, then a way to secure it? I updated to chatserv's 7.6 and screwed it up, this after my webhost CHmodded my viewtopic.php so that it couldn't be accessed, I freaked and updated, THEN thought to ask about a serverside problem.

*Sigh.* I hate being newb.

Kitsune --

Well, you can't secure it against your host! The files all should be 644 anyway (that's rw-r--r--). I don't have any 7.6 files available, but I think (not sure here) that 7.5 files should work. I have those, or you can download them yourself for free from phpnuke.org.

Words of advice to newbies: never, never, never edit any file without first making a backup. That way if you screw up, you can always go back to where you started. Believe me, I've had to do it more than once! Smile

Kitsune, edit config.php file and find this line:
Code:
$subscription_url = "";

After, add:
Code:
$admin_file = "admin";

Still getting illegal file access errors. Any other ideas?
