Custom user pages

Searched for a while on this one.

I would like to know if there is a module or something that can allow users to setup a custom home page?

like it could show last 10 posts from a section of the forum they prefer and news item from a selected catagory.

Ive been thinking it is way too hard but have been asked by users if it can be done.

that is interesting pitty it is only for 6.5 and below or it would be a great feature to my site.

has anyone tried it on 7.4 and above?

What I meant was a little different

like giving people the options to hid parts of the home page.

for example hide blocks that they are not interested in.
