Date: Friday, October 24 @ 09:30:38 CEST
Topic: Add Ons

I have released the initial version of my implementation of the TrackBack protocol for PHP-Nuke has been released. It's an alpha release, but so far it seems pretty stable (I have it running on my site insinuendo.org). If you're interested in TrackBack-enablement for PHP-Nuke, you can download the files from HERE. Be sure to download both the core library package and the modifications for the News module, which is the initial TrackBack-enabled module that I'm releasing.

If you're not sure what TrackBack is, you can read The Beginner's Guide To TrackBack at the MovableType website.

Here's a list of the current features in my implementation:

  • Meets all requirements of the TrackBack 1.1 specification (http://movabletype.org).
  • Send and receive TrackBack Pings.
  • Auto-discovery of TrackBack URLs to ping from URLs contained in posted
    content.
  • Embedded RDFs in TrackBack enabled Content allow blogging software to discover the ping URL for that content.
  • Ability to ping multiple TrackBack URLs per story or content unit.
  • E-mail notifications sent to Administrators, content Authors, and Informants when a TrackBack ping is received.
  • TrackBack request queue allows Administrators to retry failed TrackBack requests at a later date.
  • Duplicate TrackBack pings are prevented/blocked
  • Administration interface to configure global TrackBack settings, and manage
    inbound and outbound TrackBack pings.
  • Integration with existing News and Submit_News modules.
  • Administration functions on the TrackBack popup window for each article.
  • Support for GoogleTap-style URL rewrites.
