PHP (Nuke) Passport Project Announcement
Date: Thursday, October 02 @ 09:26:29 CEST
Topic: Add Ons

I have started to develop a project for the PHP and Nuke communities in general for a PHP Passport. This will (hopefully) work very much like the Microsoft Passport (except it won't expose all your financial data). Basically, a service that a person can register with (for free), and then PHPNuke and other PHP sites which use the service (also free) can share that common passport user database. This mean no more having eight million user names / password combos for all the different sites, as well as not having to fill in all the info everytime. Please send me an email to tEA-TiME if you would like to be involved.

Hopefully, this can help smaller sites get a little bit more attention, because there will be a directory of active PHP Passport sites on the web site, and larger sites to get more users who may have registered only with one site because a friend recommended it or they found it through a google search. There of course are a few technical hurdles to overcome, such as if you want to set a general preference for most sites, but want to receive the newsletter from different sites, but I think I have a way around that. I'm hoping this project will do for the PHP and Nuke community what Passport did for Microsoft, and that is have one of the collective largest user bases in the world. Anyone interested in more info, please contact me at tEA-TiME I did a search for a project like this ongoing, but haven't found anything. If someone has already started a project such as this, and would like to join forces, please let me know. I have registered phppassport.com , phpnukepassport.com and nukepassport.com for the project, and I will be covering the costs of hosting, maintenance and such. I will be setting up those sites shortly, either tonight (depends on how drunk I get during the Cubs beating the Braves tonight) or tomorrow. I think this is a good project, with alot of possibilities down the road. Of course, participation of larger sites is going to be key, but I have already spoken to a number of sites with 750+ users who are interested. A nice popular large site would be nice to include eventually once the code is all worked out (BoBaFeTT, I'm looking in your direction) :) Whether you would like to state you would like your site included, or be involved in the development, please email me immediately, as I actually drew up a project plan, with positions and responsibilities. tEA-TiME
