Announcing the release of SMF-Nuke RC1!
Date: Monday, November 12 @ 05:40:42 CET
Topic: Software

This is an integration of PHP Nuke with SMF (Simple Machines Forum). SMF is highly secure, and adaptable forum software.

Come and see what can be done using SMF with the PHP Nuke code! SMF-Nuke is based on PHP Nuke version 7.6 patched and more..

Our goal was to create something that was secure and uses the best of SMF and PHP Nuke. Our result is a system that uses only one member login and only one admin login.

This is a somewhat radical departure as we use SMF to replace half of the Nuke modules, and also use the SMF members table and Membergroups system. Also, it uses only the SMF Themes. While at first this may seem bad, actually using the SMF theming system leads to many great advantages, especially when creating stand alone pages not in the SMF or PHP Nuke coded pages. This means "external" pages can be created that can still use the SMF IP Banning system, and the SMF Membergroups system.

There are no database changes needed for SMF, and only 3 Nuke tables need "ALTER" ed unless your Nuke installation had NSN Groups installed.

We have posted over 25 themes with changes, and also a HOWTO for changing other themes.

All Nuke blocks will work with SMF-Nuke. However, modules that are not in the original SMF-Nuke download will need to be modified, as there are a few Nuke functions that have been deleted. We have a HOWTO on the main site, or you can post a request for a module update, and we will do it as we have time.

SMF-Nuke is based on PHP-Nuke 7.6 patched and more. The Nuke code has db variables opened to empty arrays, filtered, and escaped. SQL queries have coded-in error codes.

The code is released as "RC1". Our goal is the have the full release be XHTML compliant. While much of the SMF-Nuke code is compliant, not all is at release time. However, all the code is fully functional.
