Dear PHP Nuke, Nuke Cops, and Nuke community at large, including anyone who has spent time helping me, each other, creating cool things, etc.

I owe you all a great deal of gratitude. So many of you at one time or another has helped me learn something new, achieve something great or fix something (I broke).

Let me explain what you helped me do...

Several months ago before I knew what PHP, Nuke or MySql was, I volunteered for an intiative of the YMCA called TEEN Y VOTE. I became involved because I'm a nonprofit management major who was looking for something fun and important to do and realized "what isn't effected in some way by politics" and in Tennessee, less than 30% of 18-24 year olds vote. I came across TEEN Y VOTE an initative to help get teens interested in voting by engaging them in civic learning opportunities and debate.

I had no idea how to do a 'cool site' which could deliver meaningful content and help accomplish this. I stumbled on PHP NUKE and thus began a long journey that has brought me to this letter today.

With your help, over 3,000 teens in Hamilton County, Tennessee registered to vote for President -- in a process just like their parents. Over 2,727 of them voted last Tuesday. Leading up to this, and in the year to come, especially with partnerships in local schools, the website YOU ALL helped me make is helping teachers, students, and our local media pay more attention to what's going on.

Also, with YOUR HELP, you helped me create another website we used to establish the Tennessee Civic Education Coalition. Whose mission is to work with other nonprofits throughout the state of Tennessee and nation in empowering youth and educators in civic education. Through the site we applied for a grant and developed state-wide and nation-wide partners. (We didn't get it though but we think it is because we weren't an 'already established' coalition. But thanks to you, we have an infrastructure built to launch from next year.

The bottom line:
www.teenymcavote.org
www.tncivics.org

Are two very important and worthwhile initatives -- which would not have been possible without the so many dedicated folks I have run across in the Nuke community.

Some of you have helped me once or twice and we haven't spoken since, for whatever reason -- others I'm talking to now, and others I read your questions and they help me along too. But all -- I have helped so much.

Thank you PHP Nuke, Jacky and the rest of the staff at onsmart.net, MySql, GPL folk, Nuke Cops, Steve in England (wherever you are), Madman, MadHatter, edogs, and all the rest of you who have ever helped.

THANK YOU!
