WeatherHarvest v1.0.5 What's New?
  • Updated the Admin database functions
  • Marine Weather - added more weather sites for the Pacific and Alaskan gulf.
  • Added a disable cache timeout function - includes changes to the nuke_weatherini table Please use carefully, you could fill your disk quota!
  • Added Now-Cast from NOAA - changes to the nuke_weatherblock table. This includes
    • Now-Cast data
    • Urgent Messages
    • State Round-up for the zone
  • Got rid of the root dependencies from the ADMIN WeatherHarvest Initialization. Now, you can specify the path from the PHPNuke HTML directory to the cache. Radar and flat data can be stored in different locations. This has also been tested on virtual websites and works great!
  • Modified the cache clean-up routine to take into account both directories (radar and flat file cache)
  • Looping Radar
  • Added more cities!
    • Japan
    • Jamaica
    • Bermuda
    • Cuba
    • New Zealand
    • British Virgin Islands
Finally, check out the FAQ and Forums for further support at IBDeeming! Installation Instructions Power users - if you want to upgrade - you can!
  • Although I have an upgrade path for 0.9.5 - it's pretty much a refresh of a few tables. If you have a working copy of BETA 0.8.5 running - apply WHUpgrade0-8-5to0-9-5.sql. You MUST also apply WeatherHarvestMORE0-9-5.sql due to table changes!
  • Although I have an upgrade path for 1.0.5 - it's pretty much a refresh of a few tables. If you have a working copy of 0.9.5 running - apply WHUpgrade0-9-5to1-0-5.sql.

Apply the rest of the code in it's respective location as with previous installs. Just to be SAFE! The zip file provided is based on a directory structure "/www/phpnuke6.5/...". This is how the development machine is setup. Steps to success:
  • BEFORE you move the code to your production site - you MUST edit the my_header.php file included with PHPNuke (in the includes directory) to get the looping radar to work correctly. Add the line included in the my_header.php file to your my_header.php file. After you have doen that, proceed.
  • Unzip and copy files to their correct locations in your PHPNuke site (WARNING!!! DO NOT COPY THE my_header.php FILE I HAVE INCLUDED!)
  • CHMOD the "modules/WeatherHarvest/cache" directory to 777
  • Apply the WeatherHarvest0-9-5.sql file AND WeatherHarvestMORE0-9-5.sql, now located in the /www/phpnuke6.5/sql directory. It is applied through the mySQL command line or through an admin tool such as phpMyAdmin. This file will wipe old databases, and create new ones.
  • IMPORTANT: Before activating your block and module, you must go through your admin panel and set up your defaults in the initialization table. All paths are based on on your PHPNuke install HOME directory. You must have a trailing '/' or you'll receive errors if they are entered wrong. i.e. - (modules/WeatherHarvest/cache/) The defaults may work just fine for you.
  • If you are a power user, you can set up a seperate cache path for radar images.
  • Note: Cache timeout is for cleanup and regeneration of data files. NOAA typically updates every 30 minutes unless a significant event is taking place.
  • HTTP protocol is the preferred. If you choose FTP, you could experience a "slow" site. I have given you the proverbial loaded gun - use it wisely!
  • Once you have successfully saved your initialization data, activate your block and module. You may place the module in your "links" block, as it has menu options for users.
  • At this time, you may want to set up your default site city. You perform this through the admin panel.
BUG Reports and Wish lists Let me know what's going on! Use the forum at www.ibdeeming.com to report all issues or make suggestions. Anyone who's worked with me in the past knows I'm pretty wide open! What's Next I have begun the design and initial work on the following:
  • Marine support in block - struggling with this one because of the way NOAA generates the data
  • Center block, side block, and more block lay-out options
  • Digital weather from NOAA - this is real cool stuff!!
Nothing is in any particular order, and again, feel free to post your wish lists! THANKS! Thanks for using this "add-on" I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy making it! Get it HERE!
