Re: New Windows Bug - MSBlast (Score: 1) by MikeMiles on Wednesday, August 13 @ 02:13:47 CEST (User Info | Send a Message) | The site isn't down. One feature of the worm is it disables javascript so the site containing the fix "appears" to be down when it isn't. Starting on the 16th of this month until the end of the year, it is programmed to start sending a flood of small packets out from infected computers to hit microsoft's windowsupdate in a non-stop DoS attack.
With all the programmers they have, Microsoft should be ashamed of the hole ridden and buggy software they are constantly releasing. This gets back to why monopolies are a very bad thing. They can release pure junk and the public is at their mercy because there isn't any competition.
Protect yourself -- always run a firewall and a virus checker. Periodically, run a scumware cleaner too. Those who don't deserve to get hit because this type of garbage has been going on for a very long time. |
