Well I use Sentinel and Admin Secure and I can tell you there are things that Admin Secure finds before sentinel does and sentinel is the first line of defense and does a good job might I add.

just for shits and gigles goto your config.php and
1) check the $gfx variable and make sure its set to 7 I think
2) goto the end of your files and just after the ?> make sure there is no blank line ... |
