Jaguar PC's Shared Hosting not good for Nuke Sites?
Off-Topichelp writes "I heard that Jag PC's dedicated server works well for Nuke Cops and that's the main reason why I transferred my nuke site to this host because I thought that it would be the same for their shared hosting service.

But it's a different story for their shared hosting. I've registered an account with Easy Monitor which monitors your server for free every 15 minutes for downtime. Look at my site's history table. You see how frequent the downtime is and more importantly the duration of each. 2 hours and 26 minutes at one point, man that's ridiculous.

All their technical support says is that they are very sorry and they apologize for the inconvenience.

My previous host was better as far as uptime is concern.

I hope this gets posted to remind those nuke webmasters to choose their web host carefully before planning to transfer their sites."

I think JagPC also have problems with their network, maybe not partnered with international isps i don't know. Nukecops is very slow, it may be ok in U.S but i'm in Europe and it is really slow for me.

I am going to buy a dedicated from nocster.net for my site. Their network and prices are great.

I've offered to help upgrade their CPanel version of PHP-Nuke but it hasn't transpired yet. The owner of JagPC means very well for the company and its customers, but they are going thru growing pains. Right now I lease their best dedicated server, but hopefully come next year I'm going with colocation services. Its like anything else that is relatively young, there are growing pains to contend with. Which server do you reside on over on their shared boxes? In my case, for a whole month the server was going offline on a daily basis. Turned out that CPUs were overheating. Finally new heat sinks solved that problem and the box has been up for over 25 days now.

I'm hosted at JagPC as well, and all I can tell you is it depends on what server you are on, e.g. who your neighbors are. It's luck 'o the draw, and I guess you lost...

If some jerk in the next partition is experimenting with crontabs, or whatever, on your shared production server, sure it's gonna go down every 2 hours, but that isn't JagPC's fault, is it? If JagPC catches them, they'll suspend their account[s]. What else can they do? This is the nature of mass webhosting. There is always some idiot messing it up for everyone else, you know?

Here's the uptime for my JagPC server:

$ uptime
12:19pm up 65 days, 17:36, 0 users, load average: 0.22, 0.36, 0.24

Here's my web site on JagPC if you wanna check it out: Lenon.com [www.lenon.com]
